DJ/Promoter/Artist Buddy Mason came onto the nightclub scene in the late 90’s.  He started out doing security at local clubs, including the iconic Ruby Skye in San Francisco.  In 1999, he put together a New Year’s Eve party featuring local house music DJs.  The party, “A New Beginning,” was extremely successful and sold out.  That success got the attention of the general manager of the BackBeat in Sunnyvale.  He asked Buddy to start up a monthly house music event at the club, which was called “FLUID Fridays.”  Buddy founded FunkU Entertainment through which he developed and promoted these monthly events and hired many local DJs.

By mid-2000, after being influenced, mentored, and guided by the DJs he was hiring, such as BB Hayes, Rick Preston, Jay-J and Miguel Migs, Buddy started DJing himself.  In less than a year, Buddy was playing at venues such as the BackBeat in Sunnyvale and Ruby Skye and Sno-Drift in San Francisco.  In 2007, Buddy was booked by the owner of the Cardiff in Campbell, where Buddy became one of the rotating resident DJs.  Buddy has had the opportunity to play alongside many well-known DJs, such as, BB Hayes, David Harness, Roger Moorehouse, Mr. V, Chris Lum and Colette, to name few.  In 2013, Buddy started playing at Wish Bar and EndUp in San Francisco and was asked to play DIVE and SOULEIL in San Diego.  In 2015, the owners of the Cardiff opened a new venue called The Continental in Downtown San Jose.  Buddy was booked to play there regularly in addition to continuing to play at the Cardiff.

After 20 years of performing, Buddy continues his passion of playing in front of live audiences and is looking forward to continuing to perform and to inspire people to dance.
